Outdoor Parties

Phew anyone cooled down yet? As the sunshine came out this week so did the tables at Holdsworth House. We couldn't have timed it better - we were after an outdoor party/banqueting shot and the rays scorched down on us to provide the most stunning photography.  You can see the images on our Facebook page or the website wedding gallery.
We challenge anyone to find a better venue for outdoor parties and weddings!

Something Old Something New...

A NEW outdoor wedding area in the OLD Colonnade Courtyard. As its name suggests the Colonnade Courtyard is an example of classical architecture with a row of columns supporting a porch which fronts the sunny courtyard, within the hotel walls. This pretty area has been newly approved by Calderdale's Registrar as a place where marriages performed by them can legally take place.

The Colonnade Courtyard is beautiful dressed with flowers, sprinkled with rose petals or confetti and with candles lighting the large lanterns. Marriages take place beneath the Colonnade itself, whilst guests enjoy the sun trap of the courtyard. We place seating for around 12 guests, leaving room for approximately 60 guests to stand and watch the ceremony, which lasts around 30 minutes.
The Colonnade Courtyard is one of only a handful of outdoor wedding options in West Yorkshire, officially approved. Adjacent to the spacious Stuart Room - where most wedding breakfasts are served - the whole area combines brilliantly to offer a private wing of the hotel. For more information or to come and view the outdoor wedding area, please call Claire Nicholl on 01422 240024 to make an appointment.

Calderdale Tourism Conference

Last week four of the Holdsworth House team attended the Calderdale Tourism Conference at the Halifax Minster. As well as seeing this amazing building at first hand, the conference was to explore how local businesses can help increase spend within the area and entice visitors from inside Calderdale and beyond the Pennine borders to visit more of the local attractions.  Gary Verity, Chief Executive of tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire, attended and explained his plan to get Yorkshire noticed on the world stage. Plus there were a number of workshops to discuss what makes Halifax and Calderdale unique and how together we can all draw on this unique landscape to generate hard cash. There are certainly enough unique places and landscapes that make the area attractive, so come on let's all shout it from the roof tops - Halifax brilliant!!

New Beauty Offers

Holdsworth House resident beauty therapist Gina Tomsett is at it again - improving her skill set and bringing fantastic new beauty treatments to the range Holdsworth House can offer. Not only does it contain moisturising ingredients, the top notch makeup is applied by an airbrush and is long lasting, requiring no touch ups throughout the day - an important benefit to brides.  The treatment is £25 on top of the normal bridal make-up fee.
